Modern Wing
2011
This listed Oliver Hill designed house near Gomshall incorporated a fusion of arts and crafts design and modernism which was typical of his approach at the time. The house required refurbishment and careful restoration of original features and the site offered the opportunity to extend the house in a modern style. The new wing incorporates a basement, drawing room and study with a spiral staircase leading to a master suite above. Dutch bricks were chosen to match the existing and random sized shingles and contrasting shiplap oak boarding add a richness to the exterior. The frameless glazing gives uninterrupted views over the extensive gardens and woodland beyond.
