Upton Grey House

Situated in the village conservation area and considered as a building of intrinsic heritage interest, this house and brief required a sensitive approach. The main portion was contained within a barn timber frame and had been extended by the addition of a guest annex that had subsequently been linked back to the house. This incremental extension had resulted in a compromised plan layout and poorly executed ‘infills’. This presented an opportunity to both replace poor quality fabric and bring the house together around a new central core comprising open plan kitchen and master suite on the first floor. Permissions were granted in Autumn 2021.
